Welcome to my blog and my “About RAD Moose” page.

I have done computer oriented development since 1979 and worked on some major arcade to computer conversions in the early 80s and other popular video games. I also was one of the first professional video game testers for a major software development house (and have tested products and games for various companies and platforms.)

I had a bad experience with software piracy in the 80s and decided to go into areas of less risk in the computer industry working for major hardware and companies providing technical support. I have since done web, windows and mobile development for various companies in various industries such as insurance, automobile and non-gaming entertainment.

At this time I am technically unemployed, but do work on various projects on my own to try to grok additional skills in order to get another full time job. I do manage some sites and forums for various projects and social networks.

I am currently looking for work (read:  get paid.)

I am starting to expand my knowledge into the Palm WebOS arena after having a Palm Pre donated to me. (Thanks Robert Scoble!)

I have worked full life cycle of products from lincensing to development to packaging to marketing to even selling it at retail. I have a full background of development, support and marketing. I have been a company spokesman in front on thousands of people. I have worked trade shows and conferences for many companies.

What I don’t have is a degree. Unfortunatly, I have been told that is why I am not getting hired, and that has lead to being unemployed for approximately 2 1/2 years.

My dream job is to have a dream job =) I have many talents, and a wide range of knowledge. It would be nice to be let into a company and just run. Having ideas and problems bounced off me, to give input on various aspects of a deliverable (be it a product, idea, app, whatever.)  Just to use my knowledge and skills to help out others. I want to be the guy that is “out of the box” and can interact on all levels.

I would like to have a job within California or to telecommute if possible. I have reduced my carbon footprint by not having a car and while I love to drive, I would like to be somewhere where I can commute easily (be it light rail, bike, walking, etc.)

I am currently living in retirement/farming community called Moorpark (read it backwards) that I would like to ‘escape’ but I can take the Metrolink to the Burbank Airport and be just about anywhere within 24 hours. I also spend some time throughout the year in Sacramento, CA.
